I had known Nigel for over 50 years and I was very sad to hear of his passing. I only found out when I tried to phone him recently and found his number unobtainable. Not having contact details for his family or local friends, the Bridport News had the answer. Nigel gave me a job when I found myself in Dorset by pure chance back in the early 70's. What a lovely man, I first met him when he financed a car sales business where I worked. I have fond memories of working on the farm, doing the rounds on the local jazz club circuit with him and following the powerboat racing. Over the years I kept in touch with him and visited at any opportunity. I will miss not catching up with him and not being able to pay my respects in person. I know he will be sadly missed by all his family and friends, regards, Graham.

Claire forgot to add me on her message just now. I shall miss the chats about shares and the state of the world. I was honoured to be a friend and will miss catching up on the phone. I recall Jon and John borrowing the video camera back in the late seventies, which I know they were very grateful for. Kindness is the word that comes to mind when I think back and the laughs. We really enjoyed the visits with Audrey. Much love, Robert.

Sorry that we weren't able to be there today. Nigel was a very kind man who gave people a chance - my brother and I had our first job picking tomatoes for him when we were quite young - 'Leave the stalks on, they keep better that way' he'd remind us each time. I can still recall his whistling as he walked through the big greenhouse, keeping a kind eye out to see everything was running well. Many more instances of kindness over the years to our family and others; very fond memories of an old friend. With much love Claire and Jon Gooch. May you be joined with lovely Audrey now.
