WILSON Hilary Joan (née Croft) Formerly of Bath, Bassingbourn and Mosterton, aged 82, died peacefully in Barley, Royston, Herts. Wife of the late Richard Wilson. She was a much loved Mother, Grandmother and friend to many. Enthusiastic gardener, painter, theatre goer and lover of Dachshunds. Donations if desired to www.alzheimersresearchuk.org

Hilary was a kind neighbour, friendly by nature but firmly independent: her positivity, and natural inspiration was infectious. Her life was lively and purposeful, filled with a sense of duty to others. Her mind was keenly focussed on what could done: pragmatic, loyal, and ever willing to share a fund of good advice. Her term as Chair of the Parish Council in our village of Bassingbourn in Cambridgeshire gave extra meaning to that idea of service which came so naturally to her.
