ORANGES and lemons have brought the flavour of success to a Bridport bakery.
Gluten-free clementine cake and lemon marmalade from Leakers Bakery have been given stars of approval in this year’s Great Taste awards.
The awards are the world’s largest and most rigorous food awards scheme involving more than 400 judges and thousands of hours of blind tasting.
The family-run bakery, which has been serving the West Dorset community and businesses since 1914, is known for creating interesting and delicious products using ingredients sourced from the surrounding area, as well as catering for people with special dietary needs.
The award-winning St Clements cake and lemon marmalade join winning products from previous years including scones and croissants hand-made and baked on their East Street premises.
Leakers owner and cook Caroline Parkins said: “The marmalade is an old recipe of my Scottish grandmother.
“We’re a family business and we believe in keeping food traditions alive.
“Winning two Great Taste gold stars is a wonderful result for us. We’re glad the judges liked them as these products have already proved popular with our customers in Bridport.”
