I am pleased a plan to resurrect a railway line for Bridport has come forward for airing.
This will, undoubtedly, become a bone of contention. Whether it will get off the ground remains to be seen conditional on many facts not least in securing substantial funding and acquiring land to implement such a scheme.
However, there is a note of optimism in that in the Local Plan, any redevelopment of the Tannery Road area should not compromise the opportunity to create a community-based transport hub for Bridport.
I was saddened when the link line was closed in the 1970s, and any prospect of it being reopened is a chance not to miss.
With visitors, holiday makers and tourists, the benefits to stimulate the economy must be a plus for the town.
