Road Traffic Derestriction Order

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE A35 TRUNK ROAD (DORCHESTER BYPASS)
(DERESTRICTION) ORDER 2000 (VARIATION) ORDER

Notice is given that the Secretary of State for Transport proposes to make an Order under Section 84(1)(a) and (2) of, and paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A35 Trunk Road (A35) in Dorset.

The effect of the order would be to vary some of the termination points of the lengths of carriageway described in the A35 Trunk Road (Dorchester Bypass)(Derestriction) Order 2000. The text of section (b) of the Schedule would be deleted and replaced with: ‘the length of the trunk road from a point 136 metres west of the centre of the Weymouth Road Roundabout to a point 142 metres east of the centre of that roundabout;’ and the text in section (e) of the Schedule would be deleted and replaced with: ‘the length of trunk road from a point 117 metres south of the centre of the Stinsford Roundabout to a point 106 metres north of that roundabout.’ And the following article, now a standard requirement, would be added: “3. No speed limit imposed by this Order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 (c) when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations. “

The speed limit to be imposed by this Order will not apply to a vehicle used for special forces purposes. A copy of the draft Order, a plan, a statement of the Secretary of State’s reasons for proposing to make the Order and a copy of the Order to be varied, may be inspected during normal office hours at the offices of Dorset County Council, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset DT1 1XJ and West Dorset District Council, Stratton House, 58-60 High Street, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1UZ. They may also be obtained from the Highways Agency, Network Delivery & Development Directorate, Zone 2/06K, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6HA, or by e-mailing toswbs@highways.gsi.gov.uk, quoting reference HASW 01/12.

Anyone wishing to object to the proposed Order should send, 28 March 2012 or within 21 days from the date of first publication of this notice if that period expires later, a written statement of their objection and the grounds on which it is made to the Highways Agency at the address above, quoting reference HASW 01/12.
