Temporary Closure of Bridge Street [Part] & Church Street Lyme Regis
DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Bridge Street {part] and Church Street, Lyme Regis from the junction with Coombe Street eastward to the junction with Monmouth Street, a distance of approximately 150 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on the 2 January 2012 for a period of 7 weeks & 6 days. But it will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended, with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary. This Order will allow Lyme Regis Town Council to carry out repairs to the Guildhall and also allow the Lyme Regis Development Trust to carry out repairs and improvements to “The Hub”.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE
The alternative route, which will be sign posted, is as follows; from the western end of the closure at the junction with Coombe Street, proceed westward along Broad Street, Pound Road and Sidmouth Road out of Lyme Regis along the A3052 to Boshill Cross.Turn right onto the A358 and continue northward through Musbury towards Axminster.Take the first turning right after proceeding under the A35 Bridge and turn left onto the A35 and continue eastward along the A35 to the Charmouth roundabout.Take the third exit off the roundabout and proceed westward along the A3052 into Lyme Regis and the eastern end of the closure at the junction with Monmouth Street.The reverse route applies.
