Temporary Closure of Footpath No 22 Chideock

DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL intends not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.All foot passengers will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath No.22 from GR 4162 9196 to GR 4197 9171, a distance of approximately 440 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with Health & Safety Regulations and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on the 13 November 2011 for a period of 52 weeks. But it will remain in force for 12 months and can be extended, with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

This is an extension to an existing order that will end on the 13 November 2011.This continuation order is required in the interests of public safety due to a collapsed path and coastal erosion.

The alternative route for Footpath No. 22, which will be sign posted, is as follows; from the western end of the closure at GR 4162 9196, proceed along Footpath 21 north easterly for approximately 110 metres, then east south east for approximately 230, metres then south east for approximately 70 metres, then east north east for 20 metres to the junction with Sea Hill Lane at GR 4200 9192 then follow Sea Hill Lane to the eastern end of the closure at GR 4197 9171.The reverse route applies.

Temporary Closure of Icen Lane Shipton Gorge

DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Icen Lane Shipton Gorge from Cumberlands northward to the junction with the A35 Trunk Road a distance of approximately 1,500 metres.The order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on Monday 21 for a period of 5 days between 09.00hrs to 16.30hrs each day, and again on Monday 28 November 2011 between 09.00hrs to 16.30hrs, a total of 6 days. But it will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended, with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

This Order will enable Dorset County Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE;

The alternative route, which will be sign posted, is as follows; from the southern end of the closure proceed westward along Icen Lane into to the junction with Smacombe Lane.Turn right and continue northward along Smacombe Lane to the junction with Loders Lane.Turn right and proceed northward along Loders Lane and Shipton Lane to the right hand junction just before the bridge over Shipton Lane.Turn right and continue eastward to the junction with the A35 Trunk Road.Turn right and proceed eastward along the A35 Trunk Road to the junction with Icen Lane and the northern end of the closure.The reverse route applies.Access will be available by agreement with the site agent.
