WEST DORSET DISTRICT COUNCIL - STANDARDS COMMITTEE

WEST DORSET DISTRICT COUNCIL
STANDARDS COMMITTEE
NOTICE OF LOCAL DETERMINATION – CODE OF CONDUCT
COMPLAINT IN RESPECT OF COUNCILLOR P WILLIAMS
A complaint was considered by the Council’s Standards Committee following local investigation for determination – Reference WDDC01.11. The complaint alleged that Councillor P Williams had of Lyme Regis Town Council had breached section 12(a) of the Town Council’s Code of Conduct on two counts by failing to withdraw from a meeting in which he had a personal and prejudicial interest having made such a declaration on (a) 20th October 2010 at a meeting of the Policy Strategy committee and (b) 17th November 2010 at a meeting of the Town Council.
The local investigation was carried out by R Greene, the council’s Monitoring Officer on behalf of West Dorset District Council. His report was considered by the Standards Committee of the Council on 7th September 2011.
Having considered the report, the Standards Committee found that Cllr Williams had not breached the council’s Code of Conduct in respect of the meeting held on 20th October but that there had been a technical breach in respect of the meeting on the Town Council on 17th November 2010. The Standards committee decided to take no further action. (Mr Williams is no longer a town councillor)
A public notice to this effect is required to be published pursuant to the provisions of the Standards Committee (England) Regulations 2008.
D M Clarke, Chief Executive
September 2011.
