A VAN was destroyed by a blaze in a field.

Firefighters from Charmouth rushed to a van on fire in a field in Wotton Fitzpaine.

The van was "well alight" as the firefighters arrived at around 2.30pm on Saturday, August 24.

The fire crew said the cause of the blaze is thought to be accidental.

A spokesperson for Charmouth Fire Station said: "On arrival, the van was well alight.

"The crew got to work using two hose reel jets and one breathing apparatus set, soon extinguishing the fire.

"The fire was understood to be accidental and the van owner was present.

"Once happy that the fire was out and the van was cool enough to be left, we handed over to the owner and returned to the station."
