A DORCHESTER motorcyclist has died in a crash.

Dorset Police received a report at 6.06am on Sunday of a single vehicle collision involving a grey Kawasaki motorcycle on the A354 between Cashmoor and the Handley Cross roundabout.

Emergency services attended but the motorcyclist – a man aged in his 60s from Dorchester – was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.

Road closures remain in place to allow the emergency services to respond and for a detailed examination of the collision scene to be carried out.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward as they investigate a fatal road traffic collision near Sixpenny Handley in North Dorset.

Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the man who sadly died in this collision, and we are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us, and I am also keen to hear from anyone who was driving in the vicinity and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“Finally, I appreciate this collision has resulted in the closure of a main road for a significant period of time, and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
