Part of the harbour master’s office at West Bay has been given approval for use as a shop.
Area planning committee members heard on Tuesday from planning officers that the scheme would “enhance the character of the harbourside and support the vibrancy and vitality of the area.”
The shop site is part of a quarter-circle building on the west side of the harbour in West Bay and is recognised as a Building of Local Importance and a landmark building in the Local Plan. It has a flat roof and is faced with stone and lies at the eastern end of The Mound public car park.
The retail area is in the southern part of the building which fronts onto the grade II listed harbour wall and will serve harbour users.
